Description
By blurring or fading images, you can place emphasis on something else instead. People are more likely to notice and remember an element that stands out.
Your visitors will immediately be attracted to the notably different items on your page, in this case it will be the non-faded elements.

An effect named after the psychiatrist who first studied it (Hedwig von Restorff), whereby individuals take note of and remember unusual or unique items more rapidly than other more uniform items.
